Lulu was a kitten when Andy adopted her. She was originally named after a character on the TV show "Deep Space Nine", but she was re-christened Lulu Fishpaw after a character in the movie "Hairspray". She spent her kittenhood with two kitty buddies named Franny and Penny.
When Andy got an apartment by himself, Franny and Penny went elsewhere and Lulu was temporarily the only kitty. Andy adopted another tuxedo cat to keep her company.
Andy moved in with Hugh in 1995, and Lulu lived in the basement for a while to get used to Hugh's kitties. Being a sensitive sort, she developed a terrible case of stress-related diarrhea, and we fed her yogurt to make her feel better.
The next big trauma in Lulu's life was the acquisition of a puppy in the house. It's been several years now, and she still isn't comfortable when Rusty is in the room. I would guess that Lulu started getting fat about the time we got Rusty.
Life is a series of traumas when you're a sensitive cat! The next big one was the move to a much bigger house. Lulu took it pretty well; she likes being able to get away from the other critters, and she likes coming down to help Andy and Hugh work out in the weight room.
The next traumas weren't so bad; we moved to an apartment while our new house was built, then we moved to the new house. Most recent traumas: we got some new kittens and another dog, but Lulu adjusted to them fairly quickly.
